Who We Are
The Community Services Department is responsible for the administration of the City’s Recreation Sports, Classes, Special Events, Aquatics, Senior Services, Shelters, Special Event Permits Administration and Facility Management of the City of Yucaipa Scherer Center, Community Center and Park. In addition, the Department is responsible for the supervision and allocation of City and shared School District Sports facilities.
The Community Services Department is dedicated to meeting the educational, recreational, and leisure needs of our community and increasing community involvement by providing quality services and programs; while enhancing the quality of life for Yucaipa residents.

The Community Services Department is responsible for overseeing multiple facilities, parks, and shelters. The Yucaipa Community Center, Scherer Community Center, and Yucaipa Performing Arts Center have reservable spaces for events, meetings, classes, and more.
A Guide to Planning Permitted Special Events in the City of Yucaipa
Thank you for your interest in hosting a Special Event in the City of Yucaipa. The Community Services Department created this application to help you host a successful and exciting event here in Yucaipa. A special event in the City of Yucaipa is defined as a “Carnival”, “Community Celebration”, or “Outdoor Festival” which includes the use of amplified sound and/or estimated attendance equal to or exceeding 300 people on City or private property. Except as otherwise provided by state law, no person or entity shall operate, maintain, conduct, advertise, or provide admission for any temporary special event within the City of Yucaipa without possessing a permit for each such temporary special event (Ord. No. 394). Interested in hosting an event that qualifies for a Special Event Permit?
