NewsYucaipa Farm Share
The City of Yucaipa and the Healthy Yucaipa Committee have partnered with Old Grove Orange to provide locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables to Yucaipa residents through the Farm Share program.
Old Grove Orange is a group of more than thirty Southern California small farmers. They have banded together to offer the Yucaipa community an incredible variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. By eating local, you can help keep farms in the area, support local jobs, preserve citrus heritage, reduce the carbon footprint, and enjoy the freshest fruits and vegetables.
Yucaipa Farm Share is a weekly pre-paid subscription of locally grown produce from local farmers. Resident farm shareholders will be able to pick-up their produce from the Yucaipa Community Center in a Farmer’s Market style environment. Farm shareholders must pay ALL six/thirteen weeks in advance to participate. Farm shareholders may subscribe to either a full share (good for a family of four) or a medium share (good for singles and couples). The full share costs $364 (13 weeks) or $168 (6 weeks) and the medium share costs $234 (full share) or $108 (medium share).
Full shares will generally have a selection of five different kinds of fruits, five different kinds of veggies, and an herb each week. Medium shares will have half counts on the five fruits, and half counts on four of the veggies, and no herb. On a week to week basis, the fruits, vegetables and herbs are 80% to 85% certified or transitional organic.
Yucaipa Farm Share will begin on Tuesday, August 4th at the Yucaipa Community Center (34900 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa). Pick up times will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
